Case Study | Hospitality & Leisure Devon, United Kingdom 2024

The Client
Springfield Retreat is a quiet, independently owned caravan and holiday park in rural Devon, close to Exeter and the edge of Dartmoor National Park. The park offers touring and seasonal pitches, static caravans, self-catering cottages, and a growing programme of holiday lodge home ownership — giving visitors the option to enjoy the retreat as guests or to make it a longer-term investment.
When we came on board in early 2024, Springfield Retreat was preparing for a significant step: their first serious presence online. The business was already operating and welcoming guests, but it had no digital platform to match its ambitions — particularly around the lodge ownership programme, which required a professional online face to attract and convert prospective buyers.
The Challenge
This was not a redesign — it was a first build, and that distinction mattered. Rather than refining something that existed, we were establishing a digital identity from scratch for a business that needed to serve two quite different audiences simultaneously: holidaymakers looking for a relaxed getaway, and prospective buyers considering a significant lifestyle investment in a lodge home.
The lodge programme presented an additional complication. Units were being marketed off-plan, before construction was complete, so the website had to generate genuine buyer interest without the benefit of finished properties to show. A clear, credible, professionally presented proposition was essential.
Our brief was to deliver the right technology for where the business was now, while ensuring the platform could grow with it. Our UK partner agency, Built For Now Ltd, led the marketing strategy and visual design. Webcraft provided the technology layer.

The Solution
We deployed our WorkSpace™ Cloud platform to power the Springfield Retreat website, selecting the modules appropriate to a business at this stage of its digital journey — not over-engineered, but built to last and built to expand.
Content ownership matters, particularly for smaller operators. Web Publisher gives the Springfield Retreat team direct, straightforward control over their own pages, imagery, accommodation listings, and park information — with no technical dependency for day-to-day updates. The system is designed for non-technical users and requires no specialist knowledge to keep the site current.
CRM Mailing Lists
Building an owned audience from day one is one of the most valuable investments a new online business can make. The platform captures visitor subscriptions and enables the Springfield Retreat team to communicate directly with their list — whether for seasonal promotions, park news, lodge availability updates, or ownership open days. That list, grown steadily over time, becomes a durable commercial asset.
Lead Enquiry Forms
Structured enquiry forms are positioned at key points in the user journey, particularly around the lodge ownership section. Given the nature of an off-plan sale, the priority was capturing genuine buyer intent — name, contact details, and area of interest — so the sales team could follow up directly. The forms feed into the CRM and can be extended with automated follow-up flows as the business scales.
Third-Party Booking Integration
Rather than rebuild what was already working, we connected the website to Springfield Retreat's existing reservation system, giving site visitors a clean and direct path from browsing to booking. No friction, no duplication of effort for the park team.
Delivered in 12 Weeks
From project kick-off to public launch, the full platform was live within three months. That included platform configuration, content architecture, CMS setup, booking integration, and full handover and training for the Springfield Retreat team. The project ran to schedule with no extensions.
Results
Engagement Increased user engagement and longer average visit durations post-launch
Lead Generation Successful capture of lodge ownership enquiries from the first weeks of launch

"Exceptional work! They didn't just redesign our website; they tailored it to our business goals."— Will Jones, Owner, Springfield Retreat

A Platform That Grows With You
WorkSpace™ Cloud is designed on a single principle: digital capability should scale with a business, not ahead of it. For Springfield Retreat, the current deployment is purposefully right-sized — the tools they need now, deployed cleanly and without unnecessary complexity.
But the foundation is already in place for what comes next. As the business grows, the same platform can support automated lead nurturing flows, lodge availability management, e-vouchers and seasonal offers, and a full park booking and diary system — all without migrating to a different technology.
Springfield Retreat is a good example of the work we enjoy most: helping a business take its first serious step online, doing it properly, and making sure the road ahead stays open.
