The Malta Business Bureau represents the Malta Chamber of Commerce, Enterprise and Industry and the Malta Hotels and Restaurants Association in Brussels. It liaises with numerous EU counterparts, such as Eurochambres, BusinessEurope and HOTREC on matters that affect Maltese businesses.
During a business seminar on the topic of the EU Services Directive held on the 19-Nov-2009, the MBB unveiled its new proactive strategy to strengthen its presence and provide more valuable services to its members. MBB President George Micallef outlined the recent changes within the organization, the appointment of a new CEO and executive staff as well as the various new initiatives taken to roll out new services.
"The MBB's initial role towards its parent organizations was to provide support and advice on EU-related matters, however, this role is gradually evolving to a more proactive approach, seeking to provide direct assistance to Maltese enterprises interested in understanding better the regulatory challenges emanating from pipeline EU legislation..." - said Mr. George Micallef, MBB President.
The MBB also announced the launch of a new business web portal that is to become the primary information and communications channel for the MBB. Running in parallel with the newly launched quarterly paper Business Agenda, the Internet service will provide members and the public with instant access to key information and resources about business and the EU.
